Everyone should at least eat some type of fruit or vegetable, if they’re not allergic to it. Fruits and vegetables are vital to a person’s health regimen. Most people don’t consume enough on a daily basis to feel the effects of eating vegatables.

Fruits and vegetables have plenty of vitamins, minerals and fiber that can help you steer clear of chronic diseases such as heart disease and diabetes. People who consume plenty of fruits and vegetables as part of their healthy eating regimen will reduce their risks of the diseases mention above. In addition to that, they will reduce their risk of suffering a stroke, cancer and other cardiovascular diseases.

Vitamins and minerals are also found in supplements, but the best source of vitamins and minerals can be found in the fruits and vegetables that you eat. If you’re looking to lose weight, you can eat fruits and vegetables instead of food that contain a lot of calories.

Here are some suggestion for eating fruits and vegetables for weight loss purposes:
  • Steam your vegetables and use a low calorie or low fat dressing. Skip the salt and add spices and herbs to give it some flavor. Avoid frying and breading because it adds calories and saturated fats. Salad dressings that are high in fat can add on calories also. To get the natural sweetness from fruit, eat it naked.


  • When you can’t get fresh produce, you can eat canned or frozen fruits or vegetables. However, keep in mind to steer clear from those that contain added sugar, syrup, cream sauces or other things that will add calories.


  • Eat whole fruit instead of consuming a lot of fruit juices and drinks. Fruit juices and drinks contain plenty of sugar, while whole fruit contains plenty of fiber. Fiber helps your body feel full. This is good because it will prevent you from overeating.


There are times when you are not at home and you’re not available to sit down and eat. You can grab some fresh fruit and vegetables from the grocery store. Or, if you have it at home, take some and place it in a sandwich bag to take with you.

Fruits and vegetables come in many different colors. The colors provide a variety of nutrients, such as fiber, potassium, Vitamins A and C. Some of these include black beans, purple plums, red watermelon, and white onions. You should switch up every once in a while and eat different ones.

Just because you’re eating more fruits and vegetables doesn’t mean you have to eat less. You can still eat some of your favorite foods. You may have to substitute them with low-calorie versions. In addition to fiber, fruits and vegetables also contain water and contribute to your body feeling full.
