Summer time is approaching quickly, but there is still time to tone those arms. Below is a list of some great arm toning exercises.

The Triceps Pushup
Push ups are a great way to tone many parts of the body, but especially the arms.
  1. Begin on your hands and knees. Walk your hands out until your body is in a straight line, keeping your hands directly under your shoulders.

  2. Push up slowly, hold for one second, and lower slowly.

  3. Do 2 sets of 8 to 12 reps.

If you can only do one set to begin with, gradually work your way up.

One Arm Pushup
To tone more specific areas of the arm, practice the one arm pushup.
  1. Lie on your right side with the right arm resting on the left shoulder.

  2. Place your left hand flat on the floor in front of your chest. Point the fingers on your left hand toward your head.

  3. Push up with your left hand lifting your torso off of the floor several inches. Contract your abdomen and chest while pushing up.

  4. Repeat 10 times and then switch to the other side.

Lateral Raise
For this exercise you will need two weights. Three to five pounds work best if you are just beginning an exercise routine.
  1. Stand with your back straight, abs tight, and feet shoulder width apart.

  2. Begin with your arms by your side, holding a weight in each hand.

  3. While keeping your wrists straight, and elbows slightly bent, raise your arms out to the side.

  4. Pause for a second, and then lower.

  5. Repeat this exercise 10 times.

Strong, toned arms are within your reach. All it takes is a little dedication, and hard work. As with any other exercise routine, persistence is the key.
