Your belly seems to be the definitive standard of measure for fitness and health. If you have a six pack brilliantly on display, it is viewed as a silent testament to your fitness levels. Sadly the belly is usually the last place fat is lost. People who are not overweight sometimes still are found with love handles. The secret to getting a perfect belly does not lie with doing a hundred sit-ups every day. Yes, those will help. But until you get rid of the layer of fat lying over your stomach muscles, you face a long and possible-impossible task. By following these simple rules, you should soon see a difference in the way your stomach looks.
Engage in aerobics
The reasons why cardiovascular exercise are so important is that they provide the most efficient means of burning fat. By working all your body muscles you will burn even more calories. Full body exercises like swimming, jogging, walking and skiing will get you that burn rate that your body requires. That is why Shaun T created the Insanity Workout, its a full body cardiovascular exercise that will help you burn the most calories possible, burn off fat and to help you tone your muscles.
In additional to burning your fat, these cardiovascular exercises enhance your body’s metabolism. Long after you are done with your work out, your body will still be burning fat. The advantage of this is obvious. By simply working out on the treadmill in the morning, you will go through the day with a higher metabolism, gearing your body towards loosing those fat layers. It’s been proven that even using light weights during your exercise will increase your metabolism rate for hours after your exercise. Just look at Chalene Johnson’s workout called ChaLean Extreme as an example.
Get some sleep
People underestimate the importance of sleep. Your body needs sleep to recoup from the day’s events and function better. Inadequate sleep patterns will leave your body functioning less efficiently. It will also cause your body to go into survival mode which, amongst other things, will involve it saving fat instead of burning it off.
Eat healthy foods
Yes, a Burger does taste fantastic. It tastes so great that your stomach refuses to let it go. Avoid eating unhealthy meals. They are high in calorie content with little nutritional benefits. Avoid eating fatty foods or meals rich in sugar. Instead of having a chocolate bar for a snack, try having fruits instead. They are healthier and come with essential vitamins and minerals. Avoid meals made out of white flour. Instead settle for foods made out of whole grained flour. You need to get rid of the fat around your stomach. Tossing in more fat is hardly the ideal method to go about it.
Engage in strength training exercises
Resistant training exercises are important. The reason is simple. The more muscle you have, the higher your basal metabolic rate will be. A higher BMR means you will burn more calories during the day. This will play an important role in ensuring your body gets rid of more fat daily, than it consumes. Incorporate resistant training exercises into your workout.
Resistant bands are a good way of adding the resistance you need to your workout. The same with pull up bars and push up stands.
By following these simple guidelines, you will soon see those packs peeking beneath your skin.

Too tired to head to the gym and hit those weights. Unnerved by the thought of lifting those dumbbells? Well then do not fret. There is a much easier way of developing those toned muscles without spending too much money and still maximizing your results. Resistance bands!
Resistance bands are gaining huge popularity because of their effectiveness. By employing them in your workout plan, you are able to achieve the results you want in a relatively short period. They are the perfect addition to your home workout program. You don’t have to groan while carrying them around. You can easily carry them everywhere and afford to workout in almost any place – your home, your office or in the middle of the park. Resistance bands are both light and are easily crammed into small places.
Like most resistance exercises, in order to get the best results out of resistant bands you must avoid making some mistakes. The following are some tips and advice that will help you maximize the results of your workout sessions.
- Have multiple sessions. One pull and you’re done? Bad idea! To get the most of your workout program divide it into various reps. Set resting intervals of 3 – 4 minutes between each rep. As you progress you will find that your rest interval will reduce. Doing a series of reps will give you some of the advantages a cardio session would. You will keep your heart rate raised, thereby better burning energy. Also once you are done; your body metabolism for the rest of the day will be raised. You will thus not only burn fat during your workout, but after your workout as well.
- Time your reps. A 2 minute interval during reps is not a bad way to begin. Again, as you develop, you will find yourself become better adapted to your workout sessions and consequently going for longer periods. It is important that you rest once you get tired. Straining your muscles will just hurt them and set you back for another 2 weeks of rest induced inactivity.
For a better variation you can time yourself with social events. Listen to some music. Do one rep whilst one song is playing and then rest for the next song. You could also do exercises in sync with TV commercial.
There are very many methods of using your resistance bands to work out. Ensure that you not only have enough variations to target the various muscle groups, but variations that you can easily do. Do not start with advanced methods if you just beginning. Tony Horton uses resistance bands in the 10 minute trainer workout and they can even be used in the P90X workout. Resistance bands can take the place of dumbbells and works your muscles the same as a bowflex system.

It’s a popular opinion carried by many. If your workout program does not last for at least an hour, you will not see any results. People spend hours in the gym for this reason, aiming to achieve the required time span. Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with long workouts. If your body can achieve this; then what’s the harm, right?
However, there is everything wrong with diving into a long workout plan when your body can NOT achieve what you desire. The body is like a huge rubber band. It slowly adapts with event. For those just beginning exercise programs a short workout will prove a nice way to begin. A short work out is also a nice way to begin the day. Simply spending 10 minutes every morning exercising your body, will guarantee that you spend the day pepped. This is one of the reasons why Tony Horton created the very popular 10 Minute Trainer workout program. One of the biggest obstacles to a workout routine is the lack of time a person has. Busy people find it hard to squeeze in the time for a workout, which is why just 10 minutes a day will help you achieve results in a short period of time, that’s of course if you stick to the workout plan.
Another advantage of short workouts is that it tends to be more interesting. Long workouts require a lot of disciple and dedication and can become boring or lose your interest quickly. Simply going for a 15 minute exercise will prove more interesting than devoting an hour to the tread mill. Exercises are meant to be fun. Once they become a chore, they become even harder to maintain. This is one of the reasons why people drop out of their workout plans.
Yet another advantage is, because of its relatively short length, you will find it easier to fix it into your day. You can do it in the morning when you are still dressed in your pajamas. Or later in the evening dressed in you suit. The suit might not be a good idea though!
For an effective short workout to succeed, you will need to pay attention to the following:
- Work harder: In selecting your exercise sequence, choose exercises that make you work more intensely. For a workout to be effective you will need to actually work your muscle groups. Engaging in light repetitions will not get your heart rate up in that short while.
- Don’t allow yourself get bored. Try doing different sets of exercises to keep it interesting. Don’t just focus on one set of exercise. The whole point of a workout is to hit each of the major muscle groups of the body.
- Spread yourself. Most of all enjoy what you are doing. Exercises are supposed to be fun. Play Music to get you in the mood. You can also buy a home workout video to accompany your routine. The more you enjoy it, the better the results will be.

Let’s face it – sometimes its hard to find the time to make it to the gym, especially if you find yourself having a hard time getting off work in time to make it home for dinner. Finding time to go for your workouts might prove to be a little more difficult than having the will. This is why home workouts are so beneficial.
Home workouts provide a means for you to continue maintaining that healthy frame, while ensuring you stay lean.
For your home workout to be effective, you will need to ensure that you have at least the following within your routine:
- Warm Up: Like most things in life your body has moods. Before you begin your workout you will need to get your body in the right mood. Gently accelerating your heart into working readiness is important. Diving immediately into your workout, will put too much of a strain on your heart. For your body to efficiently burn calories, it will need to be gradually eased into this mode. Warming up also loosens your muscles and gets them ready for the next activity. Warming up will also help you from straining your muscles or causing damage to your ligaments. In every workout dvd we carry you will see that there is a warm up session at the beginning of the workout. Even in the toughest workouts with Tony Horton and P90X, he will make time to warm up the muscles before diving into the core of the workout.
- Your workout: Different forms of exercise target different sets of muscles. Chin ups will help in developing the muscles of your torso. Sit-ups will provide strengthening for your stomach and press-ups are effective for building your chest and back muscles. All three will develop the muscles of your arm. An effective work out should address most of the major muscle groups in your body. (I.e. Torso, legs and arms). For even better results, try spicing up your work out with different variations. I.e. if you are doing crunches, try the various other styles of crunches.
- Cool Down: This is just as important as warming up. Cooling down allows your muscles to slowly relax. By stretching your muscles, your body will have an easier time returning to normal mode. Cooling down also extends the rate at which your body maintains a higher metabolism. If you have the Insanity Workout, you will see Shaun T. doing the cool down session after every workout. This is to help not only your heart but also your muscles, so don’t skip the cool down!
Effective Workouts can be done from home. If you need a trainer to motivate you, there are excellent workout videos that can be bought here. Resistance bands are effective tools to have during your workout, but not all of our workout dvds require the use of resistance bands. One of the biggest benefits to resistance bands is that they strengthen your muscles giving you a better toned look.
Push up bars and chin up bars are also excellent additions to add to your home workout. Incorporating these into your day will provide you with a chance to stay fit and healthy on the days you are unable to visit the gym.

Losing weight, staying fit and getting that toned appearance is not as difficult as some people make it. By employing just a little bit of discipline to your day, you will begin the simple road to fitness. For you to successfully burn off the fat and develop muscle you will need to exercise.
Exercising regularly causes your body to boost its metabolism. What this means is long after you are done exercising, your body will still be burning calories at a faster rate. Losing weight can be done from the comforts of your home.
Walking is a good method of getting rid of those annoying love handles. Brisk walking increases your heart rate and develops your calf and thigh muscles. For more effective walking try and maintain your heart rate for longer periods. Buy a heart rate monitor to better equip you.
Heart rate monitors will let you know if you are walking too slow (below your optimal heart rate) or walking too quickly. Do not forget to warm up before your exercise and cool down thereafter. These are essential in getting your body into the right mood. Using exercise bands is a good way of stretching those muscles into readiness. They will also ultimately build your muscles at the same time.
Try walking up a hill, it tasks your body more and allows you to use up more energy and, consequently, calories. Don’t forget to take deep breadth because your body requires oxygen for respiration (which burns calories) to take place.
In walking, length is just as important as speed. The longer you work the more calories you will burn at an increasing faster rate.
If you do not have the luxury of walking around in the neighborhood, but can afford the option, then buy a Treadmill. Electric treadmills allow you set your walking speed—whether you want to go for a slow trot, or a mad race for the imaginary finish lines. They can also be set for incline. Adding an incline into your work routine will ensure that you work harder.
Drink a lot of water after your water. That way you are able to replenish the fluids you lost during the workout. Tony Horton came out with the P90X recovery drink to help you replenish the fluids in your body and at the same time to help your muscles recover as fast as possible. Eat enough to replenish your energy, which is another reason for the P90X protein bars. Without the proper nutrients and protein, your body will have a hard time staying in peak physical shape.
While exercising is important, it is also important to ensure that your do put to strain on your heart. You’ve only got one of those. Carrying a heart monitor is essential to your safety.
