Some people are very wary of gyms; all those seemingly complicated gadgets, beautiful people can really put a person off on fitness training. All of that intimidation is stemmed from low self-esteem which comes from not knowing the proper dynamics that happen inside a fitness center.
What you need to do is to first condition yourself that those who go to the gym are mostly concerned about their own appearance and their own workout. There may be those who are busybodies that can try to correct your form for you, but they are few. Irritating and intimidating they may be, they mean well and they just want to help. They are not criticizing you per say, but just your execution of the moves.
If you feel you cannot handle getting help from a total stranger, then you can employ the services of a fitness trainer that can correct your moves for you as you do your workout at the gym. Hire one that is friendly and knows what he is doing. They can be your barrier against those who are will interrupt your fitness training during your first few weeks.
Scout out a gym that is right for you. There are those who are comfortable in going to exclusive gyms that offers services exclusively to males or females. Another form of exclusivity is that those who will use the gym have enrolled for membership, limiting the number of people using the facilities.
See if you can encourage a friend to be your training buddy during your sessions. Once you have a familiar face with you as you do your fitness training, the gym can be less intimidating and less daunting. If you cannot have your friend with you, then befriend one of the less intimidating people that you know in the gym. It will also help if you return their greeting when you go inside the gym.
If you are still intimidated, then ask the staff what time of the day the gym typically has less people. Usually, dead hours are middle of the day or middle of the afternoon. This can be perfect for those who have home-based jobs.
Usually, the gym can be intimidating for the first couple of days or so. You will get along well if you choose the right gym that has friendly staff that can guide you as you get familiar with the gym’s schedule. You may also want to have a pre-orientation class that will show you around the gym and how to use the equipment for you to be comfortable once you start your training.
If you do not like dealing with people at the gym, you can always do your workout at home with the P90x program, Shaun T Insanity Workout, Turbo Fire, or Brazil butt lift.
