Amazing as they taste, donuts are among the foods that you must keep off your menu. They melt in your mouth, give you your sugar rush, and make you feel satisfied. Still, donuts are as hollow in nutrition as they are at the center.
Donuts are made using hydrogenated oils. These oils translate to trans fat, and they are responsible for increasing your level of low density lipoproteins or LDL’s. As we all know, LDL’s are cause of plaque that clog the arteries that results to cardiovascular problems.
Donuts are also made using refined flour. Refined flour may fill you up, but they contain very little nutrients that you need to stay fit. Too much of will leave you very little room for other nutritious foods. Refined flour also lacks fiber, which is needed for proper elimination of body wastes.
To make donuts taste better as flour is bland, you need to put in a lot of sugar and several artificial flavorings. Each donut can contain as much as 4.6 grams of sugar, which about 10% of your daily recommended sugar intake for a 2000 calorie diet.
All in all, a single donut is jam packed with empty calories that can only make you gain weight. A single, sugar-glazed donut has about 200 calories per serving. One donut is not simply enough to make you feel full. You eventually have to take in 2 to 3 donuts to satisfy your craving. Add in some other flavorings such as chocolate and you will be adding 60-100 calories. That would give you up to 900 calories in just one sitting, nearly a third of your recommended calorie intake. No matter how you look at it, donuts do not give you any nutritional benefit whatsoever.

Hot dogs are America’s favorite food. About 20 billion hot dogs are consumed annually, with the bulk resting on New Yorkers. No one can deny that they taste good. But fact is, the better they taste, the worse they are for your health.
Hot dogs are mainly made from meat trimmings that are deemed unappealing to be served in their true form. Several additives such as food coloring and seasonings must be added heavily to improve its color, texture, and taste. Preservatives are also added to prolong its shelf life in your freezer.
A single hot dog can contain as 137 calories. Now add some mayonnaise, bread, and the oil that you need to cook your hot dog, it can give you as much as 300 calories in total. You need to do a lot of physical activity to burn off just the calories from just one hot dog alone.
Hot dogs are also known to be loaded with sodium. One hotdog can contain about 28% of your daily recommended intake. One type of dangerous sodium found in hot dogs is sodium nitrate; a chemical compound known to cause cancer.
Hot dogs are also high in fat. The fat is added either as an extender or something to improve its flavor. Regardless of the reason, fat is only good if it is consumed sparingly. A hot dog can be made with 25% fat. This can lead to cardiovascular problems later on.
There is no harm in eating a hot dog every once in a while. If it becomes a daily part of your diet, it will eventually cause harm in your health making you wish that you practiced extreme moderation in eating them.

Soda is a refreshing and tasteful beverage that can compliment almost any food and also cool you down on a hot summer day. Children always go for a can of soda than a bottle of water, and adults are no different. However, there are ingredients in soda that make it bad for your body.
A major component of soda is sugar. What makes it taste great is the fact that a can of soda can contain as much as 10 teaspoons of sugar. This can put a load in your system, causing your pancreas to go overdrive just to utilize the excess sugar in your body. This is the reason why soda is one of the risk factors of diabetes mellitus.
A can of soda also contains 150 calories. This is nearly the amount of calories that you can get from a quarter of a clubhouse sandwich or a cup of pasta. This is the reason why soda is behind obesity. A lot of obese people consume about two litters or more of soda in a day.
Citric acid is also found in soda. This attributes to its acidic property. Too much acid in the body can cause several imbalances, not to mention formation of gastric ulcers. Research has also revealed that this compound can break down the DNA component inside a cell. To fully understand this, you can place a T-bone steak in a bowl of soda and it would be gradually broken down. Stains in your toilet seat can also be removed using a can of soda that left to do its thing for an hour. Flush out the soda and you will see stains have been removed.
Another active ingredient in soda is phosphoric acid. It is an important compound to help promote muscular contraction. On the other hand, too much of phosphoric acid can harm the bones. When phosphorus comes in, calcium goes out. This would result to formation of osteoporosis.
If you wish to cool down and you are about to reach for that can of soda, think first of what it would do for you before you open it. Water is a better way to cool down as it removes toxins without causing harm in your body.

You have heard about marketing success stories about fad dieting improving the quality of life of other people because of dramatic changes it gave to other people. But that just their success story during the dieting phase. Unknown to you, they also have to face their difficulties in maintaining their bodies after their body has reached its peak in losing weight.
Most fad dieting experts would recommend that you cut your calorie intake drastically to as low as 1,200 cal. Normal recommended daily calorie intake is 2,000. If you are used to eating way beyond 2,000 calories per day, this drastic decrease can put a toll on your body system. You feel like you are depriving yourself of the good food that is all around you because you still feel hungry after eating that meager portion you have set out for yourself. This is because your stomach is still too big to feel full. You must gradually reduce your portions so that your stomach will eventually decrease in size for you to be satisfied.
Some fad diets require that you drink some expensive products to maintain muscle mass as you rapidly lose weight. Some diets can also have expensive ingredients such as the Mediterranean diet. Eventually you will be discouraged to continue with the diet for your wallet is thinning better compared to you.
Most people who undergo fad dieting fail to realize is they the drastic decrease in food intake is perceived by your body as a stage of crisis. In response, your metabolism slows down to cope up with the low intake of food. Once you have reached the duration of the fad dieting your body is still programmed to have slow metabolism. As a result, you will gain weight faster when you eat the normal 2,000 recommended daily calorie intake. Eventually, you will end up gaining weight that is twice the amount as when you started.
When you undergo dieting, a normal weight loss of 1 to 2 lbs a week is ideal. Do not bemoan the fact that you are slowly losing weight compared to those who claimed they have lost more than 30 lbs in a month. Slow but sure dieting will guarantee better compliance in the long run, making look healthier and feel healthier than before.
You can drink Shakeology as the most healthy meal of the day. Shakeology is packed full of incredibly healthy stuff. Plus you can get some sweet shakeology cups for cheap.
