Use A Heart Monitor While Walking

Sunday, June 21st, 2009

chest heart rate monitorLosing weight, staying fit and getting that toned appearance is not as difficult as some people make it. By employing just a little bit of discipline to your day, you will begin the simple road to fitness. For you to successfully burn off the fat and develop muscle you will need to exercise.

Exercising regularly causes your body to boost its metabolism. What this means is long after you are done exercising, your body will still be burning calories at a faster rate. Losing weight can be done from the comforts of your home.

Walking is a good method of getting rid of those annoying love handles. Brisk walking increases your heart rate and develops your calf and thigh muscles. For more effective walking try and maintain your heart rate for longer periods. Buy a heart rate monitor to better equip you.

Heart rate monitors will let you know if you are walking too slow (below your optimal heart rate) or walking too quickly. Do not forget to warm up before your exercise and cool down thereafter. These are essential in getting your body into the right mood. Using exercise bands is a good way of stretching those muscles into readiness. They will also ultimately build your muscles at the same time.

Try walking up a hill, it tasks your body more and allows you to use up more energy and, consequently, calories. Don’t forget to take deep breadth because your body requires oxygen for respiration (which burns calories) to take place.

In walking, length is just as important as speed. The longer you work the more calories you will burn at an increasing faster rate.

If you do not have the luxury of walking around in the neighborhood, but can afford the option, then buy a Treadmill. Electric treadmills allow you set your walking speed—whether you want to go for a slow trot, or a mad race for the imaginary finish lines. They can also be set for incline. Adding an incline into your work routine will ensure that you work harder.

Drink a lot of water after your water. That way you are able to replenish the fluids you lost during the workout. Tony Horton came out with the P90X recovery drink to help you replenish the fluids in your body and at the same time to help your muscles recover as fast as possible. Eat enough to replenish your energy, which is another reason for the P90X protein bars. Without the proper nutrients and protein, your body will have a hard time staying in peak physical shape.

While exercising is important, it is also important to ensure that your do put to strain on your heart. You’ve only got one of those. Carrying a heart monitor is essential to your safety.

Better Your Workout With A Heart Rate Monitor

Wednesday, November 14th, 2007

Which heart rate monitor is best for you? There are two basic heart rate monitors which range from $59.95 to $74.95. The difference of these is one requires a chest strap while the other has sensors to check your heart rate. The Reebok heart rate monitor is the more advanced of the two. It requires no chest strap which can be uncomfortable at times. Its just like wearing a watch and gives accurate readings.

The other monitor is the Reebok RS-I Heart Rate Monitor with chest strap. The chest strap keeps track of your heart rate throughout your entire workout and wirelessly transmits the data to your wrist. You also wear a watch like devise that is easy to read and easy to keep on your heart rate target. An optimal workout requires the use of keeping track of your heart rate. You can over workout or under workout, by having a heart rate monitor you will be able to stay in the zone that gets you the best results.

Note: We do no longer carry the Reebok Heart Rate monitors.  We now carry the Bowflex monitors.
