Getting Into Whey Protein

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009

Whey protein is known to be the best source of protein.  It is an isolated protein that is found in whey; a liquid byproduct that is produced when cow’s milk is processed into cheese.  Whey contains lactose, fat, liquids and protein.  It undergoes processing so that the whey protein is isolated for human consumption.  Because of this, whey protein has the best amount and quality of amino acids that are beneficial for muscle growth.  Whey protein is different with protein in the sense that whey protein can only be found in a prepared or processed form while protein can be found in most natural sources.  Do not expect to consume whey protein when you are eating meats and legumes, for you will only get protein from them.

whey proteinThere are other inexpensive natural sources of protein that you can take for building muscle.  The only difference is, whey protein is easily digested and easily absorbed compared to other protein.  It gives almost instantaneous effects on those taking them, with the benefits easily seen and felt in a shorter amount of time.  What is good about whey protein is that it can be taken safely with other supplements that you take in for muscle growth (i.e. creatine).  As you are taking in whey protein, you do not need to cut down on carbohydrates for studies have shown that whey protein is absorbed and utilized faster when taken in with the right amount of carbohydrates.

There are several types of whey protein products available in the market, all of them a subcategory of three major classification of whey protein: concentrates, isolates, and hydrolysates.  See which type of whey protein supplement will be best for you.  Adding Whey Protein to your P90x workout, or Shaun T Insanity Workout can be great for your results.

Low Calorie Protein Bars

Friday, June 12th, 2009

Protein BarsAfter a strenuous workout, your muscles will be fatigued and in need of time and nutrients to repair and rebuild. Your muscles need protein to repair themselves. Protein bars are an excellent source of protein, but if you look carefully at the bars you see in some stores, you will see that these protein bars can be chock full of sugars and fats. Sugars and fats are the things you are trying to avoid in your diet because you are trying to maximize the results of your workout. Since many people find protein bars a convenient way of replenishing their muscles, finding a low calorie protein bar can be important.

Most people get enough protein in their diet that they do not need to add protein supplements to their daily routine. If you are working out regularly and using a physically challenging workout such as the P90X Workout, you will need to a protein supplement. A supplement such as the P90X Recovery Drink is a great option, but many people do not like the liquid form. If you are one who prefers a protein bar, the P90X protein bars are a great choice for you.

The P90X protein bars are packed full of protein. Each bar contains 20 grams of protein and only 260 calories. These bars will satisfy your appetite as well as meet the nutritional needs of your post-workout body. Adding a protein bar to your daily diet can take some balancing. Many people find that they use the protein bars as a meal replacement bar, or use the bar as a main component of their meal and add some fruit or other low fat items. These bars are nutritionally dense and while 260 calories is a lot for a protein bar, it is a significant part of your daily caloric intake. It is not a good idea to simply add a protein bar into your diet without considering the ramifications to your other meals.

Giving your body the fuel it needs to efficiently recover from a workout is a very important part of the workout process. You muscles need that protein within a half hour to an hour after your workout in order to repair properly. This is something you need to remember after every workout.

Following nutrition guidelines and watching what you eat to fuel your body is very important to the success of your workout routine. You cannot achieve the results you seek without adjusting your workouts as well as your nutrition. Supplements such the P90X protein bars can truly help you stay nutritionally balanced as well as maximizing your workout performance.
